Salad of sunflower sprouts and carrot greens lightly dressed with sesame oil and rice wine vinegar. Sunflower sprouts have become my new favorite sprout. They've got a pleasantly sweet, nutty flavor.
Tiny (grape-size) farmer's market potatoes steamed until creamy inside, rolled around in butter, then sprinkled with Penzey's Ozark seasoning. (This was incredibly good. I'm DEFINITELY going to seek out those potatoes for as long as they last this summer.)
Buffalo burgers mixed with Pickapeppa sauce and grilled; topped with a slice of pepper jack cheese after it was turned over. Served on a honey-wheat roll with a slice of yellow Brandywine tomato, "torpedo" onion, and homemade mayo.
Peaches and sugared raspberries drizzled with amaretto (for my girlfriend) or almond extract (for me; I'm working tonight), topped with lightly-sweetened whipped cream and toasted almond slices for dessert.
We drank iced Red Zinger tea.
In browsing the farmer's markets this morning, I discovered that the torpedo-shaped onions I've been getting from my CSA farm really are called "torpedo onions." I also discovered that my bizarre-looking two-toned squash is SUPPOSED to look like it does. It's a variety called "Zephyr" squash. (Google images has a picture of one, but it's difficult to make out the details.)
