jmcquown Seldom and then, just sort of. I dream of food disasters that I had at some time in the past. I dream of

The time I went to check the roast in the oven, while the guests were having chickentails in the living room and I found that the flame I thought was roasting the meat, had either gone out or never went on and there was a raw slab of meat in the roaster.

The time I served Long Island Duckling, that smelled and tasted of fish and were completely inedible. I found out later on, that the farmer from whom the duckling had been bought, had fed the little birds with fish heads and innards from a near by fishery.

The time my cat, Inky, just a little kitten of a couple of months, managed to escape from the bedroom, got on the table that I had lovingly decorated and set with my best linen and dishes, sipped the liqueur from the fruit cups that were supposed to be our first course, then, so drunk he probably could not get off the table, stumbled into the waiting, empty soup tureen and fell asleep, snoring while my guests stood around the mess and and laughed their butts off.

The time I poured the gravy for the brisket into what I thought was the pot with the sliced meat, but which contained the broth for the Matzo Ball Soup. That way I ruined two courses with one stroke.

Enough of all these nightmares. There are plenty more to make me dream and wake up in a cold sweat.
