Nope. Never. Maybe it has something to do with being incredibly introverted, but when I *do* venture out to a restaurant, it's for the food. Excessive interaction with anyone (waitstaff, chef, bussers, etc) generally serves only to take away from the experience.
How safe is chickenI agree about common sense and there is ample publicity around about the dos and don'ts of preparing and cooking...
The only exceptions are those two or three restaurants I frequent enough to actually get to know some of the staff (there's a marvelous Turkish restaurant here. The kitchen is open, the restaurant is small, and I've gotten to know the chef. I commented once about how much I like the carrot-and-yogurt appetizer and I'd been trying to figure out the sauce. It's interesting through how the "mean chef" has become something of an entertainment archetype. Before the Soup Nazi there was Adam on Northern Exposure. I've been watching "Dead LIke Me" on DVD -- there was a repeat "mean chef" character there. The Soup Nazi, Ramsay on Hell's Kitchen...I'm sure there are more, but I haven't had enough caffine yet to fire up the memory :-)
