That was certainly disappointing - sounds as though they weren't cooked properly. "Uncooked crab cakes" don't appeal to me unless I was taking carry-out, to fix them at home. Strange thing to be on the menu?

Obrycki's was always considered the gold standard in Baltimore for steamed crabs - maybe they're travelling on their reputation? It happens. I'm out-of-date on Baltimore crab houses, so I think you should ask a real down-home local. I certainly hope I haven't misguided anyone about Obrycki's, then.

If you visit the Pratt Street Pavilion at the Inner Harbor (and I haven't been there for a while, either, so it might have changed) you'll find that Phillips has quite a lot of space there - their big restaurant, a lunch counter, where you can grab a crab cake sandwich, plus they used to have a sort of Phillips express (cafeteria style) and a large fresh fish market. It's quite an operation.

We have all kinds of crab places near us, from seafood restaurants to buy-your-own for steaming, plus we have caught our own or have friends that do, so I admit I'm spoiled, since you can't get any fresher than that!
