Yes, that "bread" less said about that the better. Also at the blue nile i was treated rather contemptuously when i asked for eating utensils, the waitress picked up my "bread" wrapped it up in her hand and dipped it into my food and shoved it up to my mouth and told me that is how it is eaten, when i asked for a new dish of food and a knife and fork it was only grudgingly provided.
The one reason i used to like dining there was one could wait for a table in the book store next door and they would announce your table was ready in the book store, sadly the book store has gone out of business and i have not dined at the blue nile since.
And aside from that i don't care for the spicing of Ethiopian food. Its either too spicy, overwhelming the actual ingredients, or bland and uninteresting. At the risk of sounding like a racist i think there is a cultural conspiracy to keep these types of restaurants in business, it is politically correct to dine there and praise the food, and god forbid one should find something bad to say about the establishment that it seems few Blacks actually patronize.
I remember once at Flints BBQ i was asked by the person treating me (a white guy) what i would like to eat, and standing in a crowd of large black men, i replied rather loudly, in my best Jack Benny, limp wristed, hand to cheek accent "WELL! you know i ONLY eat white meat". While this terribly embarrbutted the white guy i was with, it got an audible chuckle and some grins from the Black guys waiting to order. Perhaps a bit of the "down low" long before Oprah explained what that meant. --- JL
