Ok, so now Alton's on the road. His new series started last night. He zigzagged across South Carolina and his home state of Georgia. He visited road side eats and had some hits and misses. The funniest stop was when he chomped on a bright red pickled pig's foot.
I don't know what the whole point of this show is supposed to be. I mean, he's driving around on a motorcycle and sampling local foods and adding his prose of being on the road. What's funny, is how most people never heard of him. Alton has a hard time believeing that - for some reason :-) Sure, it's unscripted fun but I'm sure Alton will find out that fast food is fast food. He stops in at a drive-in: gives us a history of the drive-in orders a burger, hot dog, onion rings etc - zzzzzz. He stops at restored diner - gives us the entire cliff notes on the history of diner cars then finds out the menu of this diner has turned into the anthi-thesis of diner food - Oops. Stops at a "soul food" restaurant. The food looks pretty bland but it is a sample of geniune soul food - I guess he's starting to realize that you can't praise everything.
Hopefully it will get better and more interesting in up coming episodes.
