foodstamps work for the working poor. Honest, they do. I used them when I was in Americorps.
probably because there are limits. in PA, if you aren't working for long enough (without good reason), you lose all benefits.
you're right, this f***ing sucks. but... there are a lot of free clinics out there.
no... the true options are multifold. Sit back, take what you can get -- and learn enough to pull you up from your bootstraps is the option I saw a hell of a lot of people taking. If you can't read, of course you're gonna struggle. If you can't do basic math, you're not gonna do well. So, yeah. A lot of kids, out of school and ready to learn. A lot of older folks too -- just to get a bit better at what they were weak at.
Food snob 4014Michel Boucher Full pension after 6 years..... not a bad deal... for them. It's not easy for them to talk in circles, to deal with their constituents' problems, knowing that...
Believe it or not, even people not bringing in money are often working. I knew a woman who had to look after a sick family member -- she couldn't work because of that, but was still working -- as a nurse. Being paid by her family, as much as they could spare. Just a little sliver of the underground economy.
how old are you? did you get a college degree?
tried community college? here in PA it's damn cheap. I know in Washington it's really expensive, but around here it seems to work well.
Try just taking one clbutt at a time. I've seen people doing two jobs, and a full courseload as well (with kids to boot). It can be done.
See if you can leverage your job into getting more education. maybe not possible, but might not hurt to try.
personal business is how many people get around "education" barriers. also working as subcontractors -- where it doesn't matter how qualified you are just as long as you get the job done.
hmmm... deli clerk. not sure, but if you're any good at putting together platters and stuff, maybe looking into hooking up with a catering company or soemthing...
Food snob 4013Interesting interchange with M. Boucher: No you're not. That's obviously some of that there lib'rul "hate America" propaganda you receive from your masters in Hollywood. If only you'd stop reading the Hate...
It's putting money into growing yourself. Personally, you might be better served by finding better ways to advertise.
wow. i think i can see why you don't have time for school.
welfare around here is tied to trying to better yourself. you will get at least the chance at an education.
