Here is a very good recipe from Cafˇ de Fˇdˇrations in Lyons Patricial Wells published in her Bistro Cooking. I...

Sarah, my dear woman-- Two things: First, I am probably one of the most boring and plain cooks to frequent r.f.c. and don't pretend otherwise; and second, thank you for such generous and gracious praise. The cookie recipe is from the May 29, 1966 (a month after my wedding!), issue of the local newspaper and is, I think, a pretty standard peanut butter cookie recipe and I am delighted that you love it so. We had a neighbor who also loved them and he could make them disappear while sitting in front of me and without me ever noticing. It was the most amazing skill -- seriously. LOL! I think it was because we were engaged in conversation and he would (not especially surrepbreastiously) slip the cookie into his mouth in one bite and, poof! Ń it was gone. Next thing I knew, I'd be looking at an empty plate and wonder how it happened. God rest his soul.

Samantha is a trip and we have fun cooking together. It's true what they say about being a grandparent. :-) While her mom was watching us, I was expressing that regret about not doing this with her when she was little and Beck absolved me of guilt with, "It's okay, Mom, really. Because then *I* don't have to do it with her." Please, let the record reflect that they do other things together -- beloved daughter is teaching the kid the fine artistry of scrapbook layouts. Another cult member Ń get 'em while they're young.

Thank you again for your kind words. -- -Barb Peanut Butter cookies for Grandpa; Church review #9, Musgovian Soup. "If it's not worth doing to excess, it's not worth doing at all."
