Yep do a search of the benefits of yogurt. It is the active bacteria, Lactobacillius acidophilus that is very benefical for liver function and in particular can ward off the effects of heavy drinking. I eat at least 1 c of plain yogurt with active bacteria each day. It is amazing if you ask me. Milk thistle is another good herb to use for improving liver function. AFAIK cranberry is more for kidney function and I drink a fair amount of that plus I love fresh cranberries so use them often in bran muffins or as a sauce. Now you mentioned St. John's Wort in another post. This is one herb I use very sparing because it can be conter-active with the other drugs I am on and because there is a potential problem with it inducing phycosis. I take it maily in the fall when things are getting greyer and my moods take a downswing. My doc figures increasing my light exposure is better than the SJW and I will go the non-drug method every time. Other good things for the liver are mega doses of Vit B & C both water soluable and Vit E (don't take mega doses of this). I prefer getting these vits through eating but for the high doses you really need supplements.
