You won't freakin' believe this...
I don't know if they were hiding from me or are actually dead or dying in a hospital... but I only saw 3 people that were on the invite list - 2 of them were on the maybe list and 1 (party of 2 or 3) on the definite list...
The first on the maybe list called me up first thing this a.m. and stopped by... he didn't believe me. He kept asking, "No. Really, how many actually came...". I'd promised him brunch leftovers if he wasn't able to come. I love former-Marines... they eat anything and lots of it! And they are so appreciative and complimentary!! The other 'maybe' and the 'definite' I ran into at the same time today 3:20... the both looked at me and the 'maybe' asked, "I'm sorry I didn't make it. How'd it go.". 'Definite' repeated the "Yeah, how'd it go.". I replied with, "It didn't. Nobody came and nobody even called to say they couldn't make it. I was up until almost 4 a.m. cooking all of that food and was finishing it in the morning prior to the Brunch time and nobody could even bother to call and say they couldn't make it.... well, that's one mistake I won't make again. I will NOT do that sh** again, ever!". After "maybe" apologized again and groaned, I said, "Hey, it's okay, I knew that you still had to check with your Mom (they'd made previous plans for the weekend) and had you on the "maybe" list but I just can't believe that so many others who said "I'll see you tomorrow..."... After that I simply left their section.
That was the closest to a 'high road' that I could get. Meanwhile, several of the guys at work are reaping all of the rewards (food!) that the freakin' idiots missed out on.
