Hmm - I am beginning to think that the U.S. national taste is leaning toward black-yukish strong beans made to taste like swill because they've cut down on the amount of coffee they use. One thing I can't stand anymore is being handed a cup after I pay and going to the pump coffee holders that produce some of the most luke-warm oldish coffee that probably has been sitting since morning. And what I drink should be the most frequently used up -- breakfast blend, 100% columbian, etc. - no flavored coffees for me.

I used to drink McDo's coffee, but then it's turned toward the darkish muddy taste, at least on my travels back and forth the east coast VA - New England.

Within the last year I've gone to Dunkin Donuts because it was a lighter roast and strong - the way I like it. But lately, it seems that they've cut back on the amount they use; it's hot, but not strong. Certainly, I used to get the special 2 donuts with a cuppa for $2.75; now the donuts have turned out to be fluff and no substance and the last two times I'm tossed them for the birds. Now, I've stopped going to Dunkin Donuts, but I will buy there coffee beans.

We are lucky my DH likes Starbucks and I will have a cuppa tea -- but never as satisfying as a cuppa coffee. Last week the only coffee 'out' that met some sort of standard for me was at Panera Bread and Ikea in New Haven. Dee Dee
