This is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend but we aren't celebrating with family rather with somewhere between 40 - 60 fellow hobbiests. The following weekend we celebrate with our family that should number 16 - 20. This weekend is a challenge and both weekends will be 3 possibly 4 day weekends.
This weekend - I am bringing deboned turkey as part of my contribution for the Sat main meal. I'm also bringing cranberries and stuffing as I *need* these with turkey. This weekend will start about noonish Fri and we'll be lucky to be home Mon morning and if back in time we are invited to DS's for his first attempt at cooking turkey. His wife doesn't cook but she's willing to learn. Sat will be combined with an early dress-up Hallowe'en party as well. I will have a lg picnic cooler, no fridge, sm. picnic cooler, 2 burner propane stove, and access to a sm bbq, sm. grocery store, and a couple of restaurants. The weekend will be practically a non-stop eating weekend with plenty of non-t-toddler drinks ;) I think mulled apple cider would go over well for those looking for a non-alcoholic drink. Sunday morning is fun when everyone heads over for bacon & eggs at the one restaurant! My final batch of salsa is almost ready for the canner so now I have time to start working on a menu. I have to plan for cool nights as well. The marina isn't too fond of campfires on their docks.
Next weekend - Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, fancy potatoes, squash, corn, pumpkin & lemon pies are planned for the big meal. I'm still working on snacks, lunches, & breakfasts but am thinking sandwiches & salad for lunches with frittata for Sun breakfast.
