Ginny, I agree that the threads have taken on a life of their own. Kilikini, however, stated that she had asked doctor friends to check her films, and h/ir response gave her the impetus to seek immediate medical attention.(I don't recall this exactly, but that seemed to be close to the jist of it.) She also stated that she did NOTwant people sending her money. Someone here privately sent her advice on where to lfind financial help for her needs, and she apparently found it.
I agree that there have been folks in the news on a fairly regular basis who claim to have some dread illness, garner lots of sympathy and cash, and then turn out to be fakes. There have been two in my area situation seems to have been taken over by the local speculators, whose speculations were turned into wild stories.
It gets harder and harder to recall what was said by who, what was speculation, what was fact. While your post is an excellent morality tale, it has been directed at the wrong person, at least from what I read.
