But that's just the point... A LOT of people know Kili in person. She's not just a nickname on the monitor.
I was a bit surprised that you did not have more faith after all the support she has received. She's been to many a Floridian RFC'er campout and cookout and is well loved by many.
There are real people behind these keyboards. Several of some of the BEST and most reliable friends I've ever had were made on various e-mail lists and, yes, usenet.
Here is a for instance: A very good and supportive female friend on one my old poultry lists had "man" trouble. I had suspected for awhile that, based on what she said sometimes, that she was at least mentally, if not physically abused.
She did not have any means of support so could not leave him until one of the other list members in the same state took her in. That only worked out for awhile..... That woman became pregnant, got all hormonal and was kicking her out.
Her sister in another state offered to take her in. However, she was going to lose everything she owned (what little there was) because she only had enough money to get herself there by bus.
I offered to loan her up to $1,000 to move. She turned me down initially, then changed her mind. Keep in mind I'd NEVER met this woman in person! I'd known her on line for about 3 years and using ICQ, she'd helped me thru some rough times. I ended up loaning her $500 interest free.
She was so grateful :-) She paid it back in full over about 6 months. We are still in communication and she is doing well and has moved out on her own now with stable employment.
There might be some abuses on line but trust me! They are the exception rather than the rule! The vast vast majority of human beings are good people. :-) That is something that life has taught me.
But, I really do like people too.
I even like you still, I was just a bit disappointed that you jumped on seen all the love and camaraderie on the food binaries list.
Lighten up. :-) -- Peace! Om
