Melba's Jammin' Excuse me I *have* contributed to this ng several times with pics & recipes. For the...

(snip)

You think? He's been helpful to me any number of times. I've seen more recipes from him than a couple others here who post frequently but rarely with a recipe. Define "contributes to cooking in any way." Wishing someone rest doesn't impress me much - I had too many brothers to take it real seriously on a Usenet newsgroup. All the other blather is calculated to make others angry. Something I learned long ago when the wind is blowing the wrong way: Take the sail out of the wind. And it's just a newsgroup.

Defend him? I think his behavior is often abhorrent; his language is frequently vulgar. I've never defended his language here. You buttume too much if you think that because I don't join the fray it means I approve of his behavior here. I don't. And I know that I am powerless to change his behavior so I don't try. Economy of motion or something like that. Maybe it's my age. I occasionally have very pleasant private exchanges with him - sometimes his lewd and crude comments crack me up. Sue me.

Darlin', she opened the door and I walked in. She said, "So I've decided to take out my personal vendetta on shelly here. . . .," and I said she was wasting her time. If she wishes to effect change in his behavior, that tack won't do it. Guaranteed.

Bake until golden brown and apples are tender, 25-30 minutes. Cut into bars, about 2x1-1-2", while warm. Refrigerate any remaining bars.

NOTES : Made 10-94, half recipe only because that's all the caramels I had. Used an 8" square pan. Good idea. Not sure I'd want a full recipe sitting around too long. From Betty Crocker's Red Spoon Collection-Cookies --
