cookie recipe with NO sugar
Steve & Chris Clark I started making these cookies back in my health food days and still make them now. The recipe is adapted from Natural Foods Cookbook: Vegetarian Dairy-Free...

I used to work in a grocery store and one of my jobs was to clean up after the owner had used his meat grinder, he insisted no soap be used on it (which i accept with cast iron) but i would cheat and use soap and extremely hot water when he was not around, several times he caught me and roundly berated me for it, but on those occasions when he was unaware of what i had done he praised my ability to clean his steel grinder.

IMO the grinders are not 'seasoned' the way an iron skillet is and dishwashing liquid is fine, i use soap on my food processor and my old hand cranked meat grinder to no ill effects.

Perhaps i am missing some other important aspect of this debate but as far as i can tell there should be no problem with cleaning a meat grinder with soap and hot water. Now my pepper grinder is another issue all together. It don't come apart and the one time i washed it, it took days to full dry and become useful again. But its an old wooden model and i really should up grade to a version that can be fully disbuttembled. --- JL
