When are you headed our way? Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I didn't see this post til just now. I avoid the Gaslamp district, mostly because parking anywhere down there is just a nightmare! Of course if you're at a hotel, you have a parking spot :) When I do head that way, I usually eat on the outskirts, so to speak. I've seen a suggestion for Pokez, which is pretty good Mexican. Of course, if you want *really* good Mexican, you'll have to drive to El Cajon ;) Antonio's Hideaway has these amazing chicken enchiladas (Enchiladas ala Crema).

If you feel like a couple drinks and a snack, head to Jimmy Love's and get the artichoke dip. It's amazing. You can hear your arteries filling with each bite.

For a tasty and cheap lunch, head west to India st. and go to Mimmo's. They have delicious salads to go with your pasta, and the marinara sauce is very light and flavorful and garlicky. Plus, when you're done you can walk over to Cafe Vero and have a gelato :) If you're a coffee person (I mainline it myself!) try an affogato, which is a shot of espresso poured over gelato. Very yummy way to end an evening.

Hope you enjoy your time here....and thank goodness you missed the heatwave!!
