1 to 1000A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, and came across an article similar...
It is a sign of insecurity. I've commented on the whole "collective" use of terms over the years by people afraid to stand up and say, "this is my personal opinion."
Notwithstanding I understand the frustration. The attention heaped upon me is ridiculous. I did change my name for a time to demonstrate that it does no good, as everyone wonders who the new person is who appears to know a lot about the group, and I say it's me, and beyond that it's pointless. Then those who are obsessed with me have to make certain to let more than one group know they're obsessed with a long retired love star (have been a secretary since retirement way back in 1992, and an auditor since 2003).
But perhaps those who speak up actually do echo the unspoken sentiments of other group denizens who are even more insecure. Those who would rather grumble and curse than actually speak up or do anything about what bothers them. But that's prevailent throughout our society. Not restricted to Usenet. Bugs the every loving CRAP out of me that I speak up and am dismissed an a loon on occasion because my opinions are never supported by like-minded people. I can't accomplish change on my own! Dammit! What the hell's wrong with the rest of you that you are impotent to saying what the hell you feel!
That's my rant for the day.
Back to reminiscing about my rhino encounter. :)
