Well as I see it insulin and carbs force the fat to be collected and stored as body fat. Lower carbs causing the insulin levels to go down and the liver takes the fat and uses it to make glucose...the fuel for your body. As I've lost weight with my diet I've had my cholesterol realingn itself and become normal. A diet of only lean meat will make you starve to death...you need fat. A diet low in carbs causes you to loose weight and be reasonably healthy when you add a multivitamin to catch any minerals or vitamins you miss. The only true worry is stress on the

Now I have no degree in anything and I am only stating my unlearned beliefs...Somebody will shoot this down 6 ways from Sunday. But it works.

But I ain't living on only meat and oil. I do eat low carb veggies, raw salads, nuts, some types of regular cheeses, some other milk products, eggs, chicken, beef, pork etc.

I don't live by drinking lard and eating only bacon. I avoid things like flour, corn, peas, rice, sugar and other high carb food items. I have to to keep my BG level under control as I'm diabetic. I do eat medium carb items such as onions, tomatoes, carrots, but limit my consumption it 1/2 cup a day or less. But on the whole I try and stay under 25 carb there abouts a day. Some days 15g carbs others 30g...it averages out

When I lose 10 lbs I treat myself to a forbidden treat...This is slowing my weight loss but I don't think I could keep the diet going if I didn't. I'm presently working my way back down to 195lbs...Seems the pizza I devoured put me back to 202...And when I get to 185 I will treat myself to fried rice and something sweet. My goal is to stay between 175 and 180.

Diabetes is one path to heart problems, blocked arteries, strokes, blindness, limb loss, organ failure and nerve damage in general. So low carb works to control my blood glucose which controls the symtoms of Diabetes type 2 without medication.

I love to read...being legless and blind in a wheelchair isn't a future I'd like... the idea of a stroke doesn't appeal to me either. Hence the diet.

This path might not work for everyone but it has impressed the hell outa my doctor and me. My blood tests impress her with my results. She says I am 1 of 3 patients who have made the effort to have some control over my Diabetes...her other patients just rely on pills...and more pills every year.
