Timing???Perhaps it is fluid level different rice need differing amounts of water/stock etc... to cook right.
Perhaps if you look at the satchel the rice came in you'll see the recomended amount of liquid...
some rices need per cup of raw rice only 1.75 cups liquid or less others lik 2 cups ...I my kitchen I use more than 2 cups of water for brown rice. I haven't cooked rice in a while so this is a guestimate I'd say 2.25 cups of liquid per cup of brown rice. Since I went low carb I gave away my rice pkges or I'd look it up for you.
Another place you can check for info on this is in the rice maker manual...It can be found if the booklet is lost on the web.
In General Rice cookers usually sense when the temp rises above 212F...indicating the liquid is gone... and then reduce their temp/heat setting to keep the rice warm for a period of time...The only possible timer in a rice cooker is in the keep warm cycle shut off or a delayed start feature kinda dealie.
