C,mon, Nancy. You said you'd read it years before, somewhere you weren't sure of. I know my memory plays tricks on me, is yours without flaw? Please put it into the context of this thread.

People have butterted that fake scallops are out there. Yet not one objective source has be found to document it. The only thing we have are statements from environmental groups, news reports from general-topic reporters (the CBS piece) and spurious "news" (John Matarese).

Then it was bad communications on my part. That's not how I meant it and I've explained that. Asking for some support is hardly butterting untruth on the part of the teller. It simply permits the possibility of any number of conceivable flaws in the whole chain of information. Bad information from the source to begin with (as the information from John Matarese who "embellished" his reportage of what the UNC report said). Memory slippage over time. Misreading...

But none of whom could offer any sort of documentation about it. Quoting web sites that buttert it without anything documented to point to seems to say that it doesn't happen.

Nancy, this is a rather straightforward misstatement. I'm absolutely not closed to the possibility and have said so in the specific. What I have said is that in the decades of my commercial experience I've never seen it. Since that's the case, I'd like a bit more than the rather weak buttertions offered so far. Most people would want some evidence for buttertions that fly in the face of their experience, and that's all I've asked for.

Why are you "open to it" with little evidence to support its likelihood?

I'm sorry if I've offended you. It's never been my intention. I guess I was rather caught up in actually trying to find evidence for its happening or not that didn't rely on my memory or anyone else's, or simple buttertions, as on the web sites, with nothing substantive behind them.
