~Elisa ~ surprised in them. comment. ~ ~When my wife was a buttociated with a local youth choir I was surprised at how ~many parents objected. to a number of of issues on religious grounds. The ~parents of a Jewish member didn't want their daughter singing about Jesus. The ~parents of a Dutch Reform girl didn't want anything to do with practices or ~concerts on Sundays.
My daughter's theater company deals with this regularly. The kids are buttigned to either A cast or B cast, and each cast is buttigned half the programs. Jewish kids don't do the Friday night or Saturday matinee shows, and if there are kids who keep the Sabbath on Sunday, they can trade with the Jewish kids or someone else.
With all the kids sports that practice at ungodly hours and 7 days a week it seems, parents have to make a decision as to what is more important: religion, school, and or sports and other after-school activities. What you choose will tell your child(ren) what you believe is important. I hope your wife and the other leaders of the choir were sensitive to the needs of those students whose parents chose religion over activity so that the children were still able to participate.
OB Food: Does anyone still serve hot cider or cocoa to carollers when they come by?
