It wasn't really hard to striaghten out...just time consuming. The person who did this made the mistake of opening a fraudelent bank account using my name and fake SS car and photo id. The sherriff knew immediately it wasn't me when they took the photo to my mailforwarder and she informed them I was in Honduras for the past two years. I faxed a copy of my credit report to the sheriffs office since on one card she used her real address - they picked her up for theft of negotiable documements (she stole checks from an escrow company), forgery (forged $10,000 in checks to open the fraudulent account), bank fraud, id theft, and parole violations (she had done this before). When I got back to the US to complete the paperwork, she was already arrested and awaiting trial. The detective said they were looking at giving her 5 -8 in WCC Purdy (the women's prison) on a plea deal - no parole since this was her second or third offense of this nature. Copies of the police report and an email from the detective regarding the outcome and POOF - everything went away.
