OK, fair enough - I was just curious if you might know of any particular ingredients that would affect claims of kosher vs. non-kosher in Chinese food. Obviously the preparation methods, etc., could have an impact, but I was just trying to think of common "Chinese food" ingredients that might fall into the "non-kosher" category.

While we're on the subject, and since you have been gracious enough to provide the group with input on kosher foods in the past...and, of course, in the time-honored tradition of encouraging thread drift at any possible opportunity...;-)... I saw an ad for Hebrew National hot dogs the other day, and it implied that they used particular cuts of beef which were "kosher," as opposed to the un-named Other Brands which, of course, did not worry about this. (I happen to think that HN dogs are among the finest major-brand ones I've ever had, but I'm not sure this has anything to do with their claim!). I was under the impression that as far as beef went, the designation of "kosher" had to do with how the animal was slaughtered and butchered, but didn't think that there were any particular cuts which weren't kosher. Could you please shed some light on this?
