I had great fun! And I escaped only having spent $41. I got *two* of the 1 oz. bags of the Parisien because I use that stuff in *everything* from scrambled eggs and omelets to soups to fish to... well, you get the picture. I needed more tarragon so I got a bag of that as well. Picked up a jar of "Italian Herb" blend and the small jar of ground celery seed. I got a bag of Fines Herbs - years ago I had a cream Fine Herbs Soup I want to try to duplicate. I also got some soup bases - the chicken and the ham. I think that's it. It was enough. I have a lot of the Penzey's grill seasonings and various ground peppers. I'm not into stuff that has citrus overtones so that knocks out a lot of their herb blends.
There was a woman in there who not had never heard of Penzey's and had never been in there. She was walking around looking quite dazed! We struck up a conversation. She was thrilled you can open up the little apothocary jars and smell everything. I recommended a few things to her, like the Adobo for chicken & pork and of course my beloved Parisien. She was thrilled with the gift boxes, too - she has a friend who is getting married and setting up a new kitchen. She thought it was so cool they come packed with bay leaves, cinnamon sticks and whole nutmegs :)
It was a fun way to spend my lunch hour.
