obviously it is, or i wouldn't be trying to debate you. my conscience is at peace. is yours? i don't believe in hell. what's not open for debate? how is that a downer? be serious...

After reading all through the posts listed I have come to the conclusion that you buttume that what you eat must be made tasteless as you must have no salt. Not so. Flavor may be the problem, your palate craves being able to taste something.

To the question at hand, however, I don't think the boiling is the problem. Many have suggested that you try another venue to purchase your poultry, when you do, check the dates on it for freshness, pack on ice in in a chiller to take home (stops along the way and leaving it out will make it turn). Having worked for a grocer, I know that all it takes is for one person to consistently shirk the rules to make a lot of people sick. Dependant on the store and the neighborhood, it may not be investigated or shut down.

Sounds to me like your getting bad chicken. Fresh chicken should have no to a very faint aroma...

Then - when you wash it off - smell it. If it smells off - take it back to the store (if you have handled it properly up to this point). If the water is okay (not heavy with minerals, etc.) and you poach the chicken without boiling the hell out of it, and it still smells, take it back......it doesn't smell off for nothing. Get your money back, if for nothing more than peace of mind.
