to don't
Well, I don't do wheat bread, that's for sure. White is much easier to digest. The doctor, way back in, um, what, 1989 or so?, told me the things I'm NOT supposed to digest. Here's the list:
herbs spices garlic-onions raw veggies whole grains anything acidic (including vinegar - but GOD I love it!) chocolate dairy coffee grease alcohol (like that's gonna happen? I think NOT!)
Things he suggested?
Fish chicken cooked veggies
He said I could control the colitis with diet or I'd have to go on drugs forever. Well, I'm trying to control it with diet. Since I've had this problem for the past 25 years, I may say I don't *like* a lot of things, but what it amounts to, is I can't *eat* a lot of things. It's funny, because I CAN'T eat most things, I'm just fascinated with food. I love to read recipes and such. On the plus side, because I can't eat most things, at least I'm not gaining weight! My husband wonders how I live at all..... I'll go days sometimes without eating sometimes. :~) On the downside, colitis makes working difficult, makes eating at parties difficult and I stress about it. Oh well, whatcha gonna do, right?
