Depends on how it is put on. Its pretty well impossible to gain the sort of muscle Arnie had without taking drugs and the drugs are much more likely to damage your health than exercise that generates muscle. I should think weight training or rowing without drug abuse is a good way promote general health.

I eat meat though a lot of fruit and veg too. I was told by a Veggy a bit ago he would be much fitter and healthier than me because I ordered a meat product so I said ok, let's have a run round the block and see. You are 10 years younger than me it should be a breeze for you. Or maybe we could do a strength test? He thought about it a second then declined. Health is a complex combination of things where its very difficult to control all the variables. I happen to like a lifestyle where I eat meat, take regular exercise, don't smoke and drink in moderation. At 51 I know kids in their 20s who are Veggies that are less fit and active than I am mainly because they get virtually no exercise. I don't know any veggie top clbutt athletes that take part in physically demanding events but that doesn't prove who will live longest.

In the end if philosophically you want to be a veggie, be one but respect my right not to be one.
