Evening all,
Since we're in an off-topic mood, does anyone know how to wash a linen shirt? I've got one, which i like very much, but after i wash it (on some fairly normal cool washing machine cycle), it becomes incredibly uncomfortable - all hard, stiff and scratchy, not soft like it should be (shouldn't it?). I'm wearing it now (dinner with a visiting professor, dahlings), so if anyone's got any tips on how to get it right for next time, that'd be immensely wonderful.

ObFood: i went to Amsterdam at the weekend. Forget the dope, they've got the most amazing sweet stuff over there - you might know their 'stroopwaffeln', syrup waffle things, but they also do 'stroopkoeken', which are like a couple of thin biscuits, somewhere between a digestive and a rich tea but ten times better, glued together with syrup. Then they have little apple pie biscuit-cake things that have cinnamon and raisins in with the apple, and almond biscuit things, and 'boterkoek reepjes', which are little fingers of incredibly buttery soft cake-pastry stuff (a bit like Breton butter cake). And they have a thing called 'vla', which is some sort of custard that comes in cartons, and people have it for pudding, and it comes in loads of flavours, and they even have 'dubbel vla', where you get (eg) vanilla and chocolate side by side. Amazing! Here's its effect on my buttociate Tim:
