Thanks for filling folks in, Ophelia. I was late in getting back to the ng.

Soup 316
A couple of autumn-winter style soups. We eat more soups after buying a breadmaker, since soup is a good excuse to make interesting rolls. Curried Parsnip and Swede...

It might be possible to grow blackberries here in the desert, but it would be a monumental task. It's quite amazing the vegetables and fruits that are grown on farms here, but maintaining the plants is virtually a 24-7 operation. Mbuttive irrigation is required and, in some cases, airspace humidifaction above the plants.

I would have to agree that the best blackberries are the wild variety. Some of my family live in Mississippi where they have wonderful wild blackberries. That holds true for wild blueberries, as well.

OTOH, we are able to easily grown every variety of citrus with minimal irrigation and the fruit is wonderful. Our sour oranges are the equal of Sevilles and make delicious marmalade. Much of the nation's pecan crop and date production is also here in Arizona.

I miss all of the berries we grew when we lived in Ohio...blackberries, red and black currants, and gooseberries. I haven't seen a gooseberry in five years! :-(
