Ping AMTI like them every once in a while but it's true the sea water taste can be overpowering. The way I like them is to discreetly...
Price shopping I would presume. I had no idea Nestle had bought Buitoni! They are still here, still very community-involved, still expanding product lines and still considered good neighbors. I have been trying the products of very small regional pasta makers lately and I have found one I like above all others. They are using a wheat that has been reverse-bred to be like the famous wheat from southern Russia that became extinct following WWI when the Russian farmers had to eat their seed to survive. It is experimental and isn't made in all the shapes I need, but I really like it. There is more than one brand, but what I have found is Ducasette. As an experiment, it is underpriced and costs euro .52 a kilo. I expect that won't last. On the other hand, there are also new brands marked proudly that they are grown on land taken from the mafia and that buying it fights the mafia. Unfortunately it costs way more than other brands, so I am not currently fighting the mafia. Doesn't it work to go to the management and ask for specific brands you will buy? Boycotting at the cash register would seem a likely ploy.
