No. It works a treat. The part that contains the butter is only just larger than a half-pound block, the outside being quite deceptive. Today is quite warm here and the butter is still the same spreadable consistency. So far, I am suitably impressed. It comes with a T-shaped plastic thing for adjusting the ambient temperature, if necessary (although it comes pre-set) just in case you want to adjust it. There wasn't one in my package and I telephoned them yesterday afternoon to request one. It arrived this morning. Can't grumble at that.
Fluids physical properties ofI was taught at school that alcohol didn't freeze. Given that school belongs to the train of thought that had a hell of a hard time admitting in public that maybe, after all...
As someone who forgets to remove butter from the fridge and doesn't like spreads, I am very pleased. If it works well, it will also prevent my butter from melting in the hot weather and will remain at the ambient temperature for two hours without being plugged into the mains, even on very hot or cold days. It does exactly what I want it to without faffing about with warm water or those silly metal things Lakeland used to sell. (IIUC, Lakeland are now selling it too). The downside, if it can be considered a downside, is that they tell you not to leave butter in it for more than 10 days but that is common sense and butter doesn't last half that long in our house. -- June Hughes
