Why? What is the text which requires that they should be "aware of their rest"?
That does not tie in with my experience with sheep when one sheep is shot in close proximity to another. Maybe something is transmitted by the slow loss of consciousness. A nearby sheep does not seem affected by one which is end by a clean shot.
I would not let my sheep go into Halal dissolution. Obviously we eat our own sheep but for other animals which are local and hence generally go through the local abattoir.
Yes. I know. That is one of the reasons why - apart from wanting to shop locally - I do my best to only buy meat that has been raised locally. That rules out any meat where you cannot get an answer from the seller as to the origin of the meat.
That's ok. The customer has the information and makes his own choice. I just wish I could be sure the customer was aware of all the factors involved. If I had the power to get rid of veal crates, I would but failing that it's important that customers know the truth. Now all we have to do is get the UK meat buying public to asociate Dutch veal with cute little calves kept in crates. Not always easy. I remember a demonstration (of sow tethers) in a local smkt car park. The smkt didn't interfere until the should not happen but that they should not be shown.
Absolutely.
read that initially as "two free range organic ducks" and thought you had quite an appebreaste.....
Agree. I do not demand organic, just common sense and an appreciation that we should "keep an eye open" about how we produce our food.
Here you are largely preaching to the converted. It's an uphill struggle to educate the public - to quote Tom Lehrer "what's important is The Price" unfortunately but keep trying.
Calves liver Mailcopiesto: never 386I apologise -- you're right; the publicity saying that animals end by religious dissolution (it's kosher as well as halal) *must* be stunned is...
