If you feel sorry for food' - ie birds that have been fattened up and carefully nursed throughout...

Following up to Jane Gillett

When you read of dolphins saving people from watering and when you observe a pet cat deprived of dead littermates, or a swan with lost mate pining to rest, and on the other side our lack of inter species communication skills, all I cant say is its a huge "don't know".

I was only kidding! I don't think the level of thinking there is even the authors opinion, its a fantasy book. (BTW I know a barman who plays "Bright Eyes" when someone orders rabbit :-) ) Sadly some people do take that sort of view of nature literally.

There is also the issue of non native releases doing great harm to the balance of our native environment, I note that these animals often survive very effectively and its not always the native wild species that win out.

and another humans territory!

Certainly. I think transporting live animals about for dissolution in "better" conditions is a two edged sword. As for the animal persons, although they go way too far, I can see we have committed barbaric acts of cruelty in the name of product testing etc. and there are still people who would kill a wild animal to make a coat they don't need. Or rather they would have someone else kill a wild animal. -- Mike Reid
