Carbonara Mailcopiesto: neverSpeaking for myself (just making that clear, as you've followed up to Jane), I'm human too, or perhaps too human. I've no objection... 'If you feel sorry for food' - ie birds that have been fattened up and carefully nursed throughout their lives then being chased by beaters until they fly into the air scared out of their wits, then shot by some idiot - 'don't eat it' doesn't make any sense at all to me. If they are humanely end - and personally I can't stand eating pheasant anyway because there isn't much on it and the meat is very strong - I shouldn't think many people would be interested in buying them. Much more 'fun' to go to a shoot, have a bloody good meal at someone else's expense, throw a bit of food around, get paralytic then take home a brace which has probably been shot by someone else. Then you hang it for a bit - if you are very macho, you hang it until it stinks - before plucking it and removing the lead pellets that have been sitting in the flesh for a few days (I am unsure as to whether or not the lead would permeate the meat but it is a very soft metal - someone will know). Then you cook it in wine, which will hopefully hide the smell of rotting flesh. Then you eat it. Bleurrgh! BTDTGTTS. Give me a chicken curry any day. -- June Hughes Carbonara 356Following up to sarah LOL, he is saying, look, I caught a bigger fish than the other men. Do you not think there might be something in men's genetic... |
