There are a few nice wine bars near Borough Market if you're going to be in that area, plus the Market Porter pub. Or try Brindisa, where I enjoyed lunch a few weeks ago.
Surprising that - according to the web site they have an 'award winning cellar'.
You might have to shout to be heard here as it can get extremely busy.

Excellent article. I wonder if the reduced price strategies mentioned in the last couple of paragraphs will catch on. It used to be what got me through the doors of places I might not otherwise have visited (many of which, sadly, are now defunct).
and I were interested in buying a small restaurant in a village location in the Midlands. We eventually decided it was far too expensive and business wise a non-starter. We totted up the potential maximum income and realised that the cost of a decent chef and other staff would swallow up most of the profits.
We thought that owned and managed by a live-in chef it might possibly make a profit, and a while later a chef and his wife did buy it. He was very good and won a Michelin star for his efforts, but I heard last November that they'd moved on and the place had closed again.
