Foodie as in cooking and eating good food, or just eating good food?

If the former (and you can afford it) send them really good food. Smoked salmon from Summer Isles foods in Achiltibuie (www.summerislesfoods.com). I think they have a club, members get a package of something nice in the post every month, but you might need to get their snailmail form to find it (can't see it on the website).

Do they drink? Someone on another froup was discussing the cost of buying an entire cask's-worth of whisky from Bruichladdich. Can't remember the cost (I think it's not far short of £1000), but once you've done it you get to specify the cask it goes into (port, sherry and so forth) and how long it stays there (there is a minor annual charge). A seriously long-term investment, but definitely shows clbutt. Perhaps you could split it between several like-minded friends.

A weekend cooking course of some sort? I've done advanced sourdough, including use of a wood-fired oven.
