I make bread and freeze it - but always have a stock of rice cakes and Matzos against the day.
We use very little milk - cereals and coffee once a day. I keep a stock of Oatly which is very nice with cereal - but so is fruit juice. Coffee can be drunk black - or not at all. I can recommend it, I woldn't use uht though.
It's not too difficult to keep a store cupboard, it was always done in The Olden Days and is what I was taught in Domestic Science.
Vegetables are no problem, I can't grow enough to keep us going for ever and keep up with the huge amounts we eat. but we've managed because the courgettes are bourgeoning, cucumbers suddenly swelled and the raspberries ripened - a picking every day. the spinach, lettuce and chard are thriving, runner beans and lengthening but while the tomatoes are large they're not ripening :-(
I don't know that word? Spouse always wears a hat whatever the weather. I have to knock it off his head at meal times, in bed and to wash. A black sheepskin 'flying helmet', a filthy khaki waterproof thing, a much darned tweed and a variety of white cotton ones with little rims as seen on cricket fans are examples. They're left lying around the house until he can't find one and panics. He's bald, you see, and says he needs to protect his skin - from sun, from rain, from cold, from air ... we're going swimming tomorrow, I wonder which I'll have to hide ...
It's cooler and raining a bit) now - hurrah! I'm off to Waitrose for onions, I can't grow onions and we have none left :-(
