Is the glbutt thick enough to go on the hub? Some modern models do (Bodum, I think), not sure about the others. Otherwise, a very cheap solution to replace it: some opticians do scientific furnitures for schools and labs. You can buy a small, glbutt burner that takes liquid fuel for a price much more reasonable than the official ones. :)

Anyway, it was one of the few models you didn't already have, there was a space left on the shelf. How many different coffee makers so far? I'd gamble on 18 or so. :)

Anyway, there is a definitive charm to those Conas: the idea is you bring the thing to the table as you've just finished dessert, de facto saying the meal isn't over yet, you still have time to enjoy yourself. It takes a comparative while to be ready, but by some strange coincidence that's exactly the time it takes for that last slice of cake to settle. Isn't life beautiful?
