Confession and request for help. 282

Following up to June Hughes

looked it at the Vinopolis shop on way to lunch at the Globe, they have vintage Macallan from lots of post war years on sale (reinports from Italy) starting at about £500, ranging up to £1000. Lots of other rare old whisky too. I shant be buying!

lunch chilled scallops with bacon v nice as was Cs salmon and crab mille fueille (sp?) M in L actually ate her black pud and apple (the pud would have complemented my scallops!) Carols seabbutt on risotto turned up as seabbutt on paella, not the first time thats happened in restros. Haddock with clams on cabbage had a watery sauce which did nothing, wouldnt order again. M in L had lamb with peas and beans, OK. View is of course superb, across to St Pauls. Service good except doing that silly hiding the wine thing and then not pouring it when you need it. About £110 for three inc cheese for two (nothing special) and a creme brulee for M in L ("I thought you were full up, how come I had to eat your lamb?"). Of four visits our least good expereince, but still fine.

River buses are a joy to travel on, especially on such a stunning day, past the Belfast, under Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf loomimg up ad then Greenwich ahead. -- Mike Reid
