How to cook 100 sausages in the oven 250Wonderful, thanks for asking. Right from the start I wallowed in poutine, ate unabashed cretons and descended relentlessly upon smoked meat. :) Things got very serious next: the...
Become a better cookIgnores zero tolerance. :-) "misplaced apostrophe (ăprintersâ marksä)" It's correct as far as I can see: marks for printers, printers' marks. But my UK edition has neither...
Yes, at least on our cooker. The control for the Britannia oven that we've got has 10 settings including 'off' (I include it because '10' is a nice number) for various types of cooking and defrosting. These are various combinations of upper element on 'oven', upper element on 'grill', upper and lower elements, fan and light. I've only ever used two of them: both elements on (used for most things), and fan oven alone (used for quick hot cooking of things I want brown and crisp, such as macaronicheese). The fan oven is supposed to cook roasts much more quickly than 'traditional high heat roasting', but I don't think it does. Do bear in mind that while I'm very happy with my Britannia, there is at least one other poster here who isn't happy with theirs as far as I recall.
Go for a big pot of stew? Otherwise lots of scope for forgetting things cooking timer and carried it around with her; now I wish I could turn up the volume on my oven timer.
One thing that is worthwhile if you've space and money: a big extractor venting outside. We got the Britannia one, which does a very good job of keeping almost all cooking smells in the kitchen of the house, or outside tempting the neighbours (I hate smelling sausages or bacon or whatever in the bedroom, or the front room the next morning).
