Dave Fawthrop a Ah, now he sees! I thought you were talking about bacteria, hence the quip about preservative properties of salt. Also how much of the other salts I have no idea about that - I thought fleur de sel was one of those products that - like mineral water - came pretty much in its natural state, with no special treatment prior to packaging.
No it is either 1. salt pans, let sea water into a large pool, wait till it evaporates, let some more sea water in repeat several times, rake out the salt. 2. boil sea water in cauldrons and rake the salt out.
Both purify the salt to some extent, as we all did in Chemistry lessons at school. But how much plutonium it gets rid of.
I have seen salt pans in Aden and was *not* impressed.
I suppose there must be a chemical reason why it tastes different to ordinary salt but I've never spent much time thinking about the matter.
IMO it is just the placebo effect. If you *tell* someone it tastes better it does.
It depends who you are trying to impress.
Working out recipes from prepared foodsI know I'm not the only one because one of my friends does the same.. does anyone here play this "game" Sometimes you think whilst shopping, I really fancy x, what...
Give up trying to impress people years ago
