On Wed, 7 Dec 2005, Tom Anderson Thanks for your comments, everyone! I thought i'd hold off replying until i'd actually done the deed...

Their salmon is lovely and if you buy a side, you can cut it up and freeze it. They often have great French butter and butter and I got my kettle (Dualit new model cordless) for £29 + VAT. That was a very good bargain, except it blew up last weekend after just over 18 months use, so perhaps not. My old Dualit, which Bas ruined by hitting his head on a kitchen cupboard door, thus knocking it of its hinges and denting the kettle, had replaceable parts but looked such a mess that when the element went, I threw it away.

I buy some of my work stationery there but use Viking most, as it is more convenient and I am not tempted to buy things I don't need. They also have bargains in kitchen stuff but again, I tend to buy it even if it is not needed, so avoid going. I shall probably go in February after my busy time, when I have a bit of money and time to spare. My trade card means I can go early in the morning but I have never done that. (You can only get a trade card if you are registered for VAT). They also have special offers on things like Heinz soup and baked beans, which are great value if you have the room to store them. I generally end up putting stuff in the garden shed (not my office, - the real garden shed). Perhaps you would like to meet me in February and come with me to see for yourself? -- June Hughes
