I've never regretted quitting it either but don't feel that strongly. It's not for me but if you love it then enjoy.....
I suspect a lot of resentment from other areas is sort of "second stage" (referred) resentment. I am feeling one such ATM. It's about broadcasting. Now when there is a development in broadcasting which gives an advantage - an additional channel, for instance - where is it implemented first? The SE of course. Always the best served region; ok, it's got the most people. But. Now there is to be a pilot for digital tv who gets to be guinea pigs? Who is going to get their analogue tv withdrawn and, as a result of geography, suffer total loss of service in many cases? Us in the SW. Not the SE - too much clout represented there; too many people with the power to make life uncomfortable the relevant decision-makers no doubt (their own families for a start). Yes "they" can make out a case - our geography gives a good test - but the main reason I reckon is that the westerners are sufficiently few, sufficiently far away and generally of so little clout that their discomfort can be ignored. OK rant over. It's not the fault of the SE people or their region and fault should not be transferred but it happens all the same.
Don't know about the new swathes but yes, districts run into each other. Mind you that happens elsewhere. I was brought up in a village outside Cardiff. Distinct from the city when I was a child. Now it's a part and the streets run into each other there too.
I have a different interpretation on that. IME drivers in London will accomodate you and allow you to do almost anything you want to as long as for the road to clear to the horizon; if someone's letting you out-in then
They call that Thames WaterFollowing up to Dave Fawthrop The benefit of having these things to hand is they are there when I want them, its not something you tick off and never do again. Unless of...
That's all. Back to food!
