Following up to June Hughes there's various nature reserves near me. One is a reedbed supporting...

They don't have to. A bean soup is a clbuttic of Italian cuisine. Beans go beautifully in a stirfry or curry. Or in a range of other recipes: for example my "baked beans", which actually take the form of a loaf and go nicely with (say) new spuds and salad. Or put them (well-spiced) into anything that wants stuffing - from a pepper to a marrow. The only limit is your imagination.

BTW, I *do* know what you're talking about. I have an acceptance issue when I cook for the parents - anything too 'interesting' and my father will subsbreastute a sandwich.

Fairy nuff. I'd drop my objections if I had any reasonable confidence in the animals not having been grossly abused during their lives. Unfortunately I don't. The fact that I live in one of our most rural areas (West Devon) and that I far-too-often hear Radio 4's early morning farming program only reinforce my decision.

Have you seen what't been happening to our supposedly-best areas during our lifetimes? Right on my doorstep, Dartmoor is *devastated* by over-grazing. Even as recently as 20 years ago it was very, very different. I'd be much happier if we had at least some *nature* left.

Hmmm? Doesn't really sound like a book aimed at people with enough interest to participate in this newsgroup .... ??

Thank you . You were unwise to buttume that everyone you encounter gets all their information from journalists. Personally I have no desire to see large areas of lowland...

Right, that sounds better. In fact, that sounds positively Worthy (capital W).

From the freezer? Eat as often or as rarely as you like!
