Thanks to the Reid for his suggestions from me too, although i didn't get to use them either, since my co-holidaymakers were rather keen to spend all day sitting on their arses in the house, rather than walking anywhere there might be something worth eating; i did more walking on the day i arrived (from the ferry house on the west side of Windermere to the place we were staying in Coniston) than any of the days we were there!
Can't blame them, though - one of our number relentlessly cooked excellent food, and when we finally managed to subdue him, we roasted a couple of legs of lamb, which were also excellent. Here's me attempting to tear one leg in two at the knee so i can get the last of the meat off it:
God, i look dreadful in that picture, but so it goes.
We did have one meal out, in the pub over the road. I had a lamb stew with a suet crust, which was pretty good - and the crust was about two inches thick; heaven!
They had a Polish waitress there too - really very easy on the eye, she was. Is it something in the water over there?
