Just had a visit from the boiler engineer (fancy term for plumber?) to fix my relatively new (16 month old) but broken down, incorrectly installed boiler, which had also missed its first annual service. I came back at the weekend from two weeks hols. No hot water, and when I switched on the boiler, it worked for a few minutes before gushing water everywhere.
My call to the manufacturer to arrange the engineer's visit had me fearing the worst - condemnation and disconnection of said boiler with the expensive prospect of remodelling the kitchen to install a new one indoors.
To my relief he replaced the faulty pump, as well as the computer control panel which he managed to soak, said a few words to the effect of putting some kind of frost protection thermostat (though frost wasn't the cause of the damage) and left. And it was all still under warranty, so no charge.
Right now I'm feeling on top of the world, and won't hear a bad word said against plumbers. Well, at least a couple of them, anyway.
It must be my birthday today (actually, it is).
