Not just November, or damp Tuesdays for that matter. Wasn't there something on R4 about food being the only way pubs can be profitable these days? Judging from its sandwich boards, the pub up the road from us has decided to concentrate on food. Every day of the week seems to be earmarked for a special interest group-food type. Thursday is Pensioners Day1 and the old dears-GOM park very carefully and very badly by our house, then walk to the pub. On their return I can hear them saying "That was good, dear. Very good value for £4.99". I can't remember which van does the food delivery, but all of it comes in one truck. I have never eaten there, nor will I -- the smell of hot oil coming out of the kitchen fan makes me feel ill when I walk past. Perhaps if it was Brake Bros the food would be worth eating?

1 I omit all punctuation because she does; I can't bring myself to emulate her spelling ability. I don't count the pensioners in or out, so can't say whether they are both eaters and eaten.
