My apologiesLet me put it this way - every time June does one of her 'hit and run' attacks on me...
I enjoyed it too! The company, the restaurant - perfect! Just got back and am suffering from jetlag - got up at 4am:-( -and a greatly diminished bank balance. Immediately went to the shop to buy some milk not having checked the fridge where my d-i-l had put some with a few other provisions, bless her! I ate Greg's gift last night. Wow! Now I really have to lose the lbs-kgs I gained from serious over-indulging. I promise I will start tomorrow...........
I didn't bother bringing back any Poil‰ne bread this time though I did manage to find some lavender syrup from The Food Company in Marks Tey (remember Sarah getting it from the BM?). They had a food sniffer dog at the airport when I arrived. He had just caught a girl trying to 'smuggle' an apple into Canada and her handler was telling her about the $200 fine. Also got my supply of Lemon & Lavender marmalade plus a new one to try (orange & cardamon). If you haven't tried the former, it's worth looking out for. Made by the Bay Tree Company that make all sorts of interesting condiments as well. David Mellor stocks some.
I went to London again on the Monday after our meeting and made a pilgrimage to Neals Yard Dairy. My cholesterol level must have shot up at the sight of all those wonderful cheeses. Managed to get a piece of cheddar that reminded me of the stuff of childhood when the local grocer (Mr. Finbow) kept a wheel of cheddar, covered with a white cloth, on the counter of his shop (no refrigeration).
Next time - the Borough Market, I think.
