I certainly hope he succeeds also. How have you felt about school meals over the years though? Have you not felt forced to pack your own meals for him-her? Did you ever complain to the school? The PTA? Your local politician?
Jamie Oliver series 34Good on the I tend to go along with a lot of what you say. Strangely enough, this program was being reported on Sky TV Sunday when I arrived at lunch...
cook book addicts do not read 35A real oddity appears here. We have a UK food group where the impression being given is that there is either a lack of a British cuisine or it has...
I was a dinner lady until, oooh...(counting up) 11 years ago..and we were continually trying to think of ways to improve the meals. Very difficult on a small budget. And on what the kids would eat. My own sons would never eat there. In fact, they walked home, along with their friends, and made free with my house and kitchen whilst I was busy being a dinner lady at school......
More money always helps. If all dinner ladies were trained by Jamie Oliver it might make school meals better. It even took *him* a long time to get the costs down. But how do we train the children to eat the food? Whip 'em? (not a bad idea...)
Maybe we should all nag our local MP's to raise money for school meals.
P.S. I'm 55, with three grandchildren; 16,14, and 12. They're all overweight, but that is more to do with their parents than the school dinners. I keep out of it. Or we could try whipping the parents as well.... :-))) Gimme the whip first!
